When I was growing up in Southern California I was inspired by the scenery of the outdoors. I loved horses, hiking, walks along the beach and lazy days in the sunshine. Nature filled my mind with inspiring ideas and it filled my heart with
a deep sense of appreciation and wonder. The single most experience that rivals my spiritual connection to the outdoors is when I am creative.
This strong connection I feel with my creativity has been with me all my life. I've been taking art classes and honing my skills in many arts and craft genres for at least thirty years. Primarily I love to sketch, journal and sculpt, but I love learning all I can about many different art forms. I believe that my creative learning experiences and studies are more important than any of my artistic accomplishments.
I always seek to create contrast in all of my art work. In pencil drawing, I love to seek the shadows and light. In my clay and mixed media work, I will look to contrast softness and intensity. Somehow this all relates to sculpting in one form another, molding a work of art until it feels like I've captured something special.
